On August 12 of 1888, the first Adventist Church was organized in Tantallon. Three people were baptized and there were nine members who met in homes until a church was constructed.
In the cemetery is a large stone with the names of John and Julia Longard who donated the land that our church and cemetery are sitting on.
John Longard and his sons cut logs and had 2 large oxen to haul them out of the woods so they could make lumber to build a church. In 1891 the first church building was finished on Longard’s Road, behind the present church building.
On January 10, 1976 the new church building was officially opened at 12494 Peggy’s Cove Road in its current location. Pastor David Crook was instrumental in organizing the building project debt free.
On August 18, 2008, a carved granite replica of the old church was unveiled by Marshal Longard and Irma Boutilier (descendents of charter member Julia Longard) on Longard’s Road as part of the 120th anniversary celebration.
In 2011, the Tantallon SDA church was renovated to make the building larger and more accessible.
In 1996, community member Jane Fillbee donated the old Allen homestead to be used for a community center. Cyril Smith and church volunteers finished the Community Center in 1997.
